We will be holding an experience of searching for stag beetle and rhinoceros beetle larvae by splitting rotten wood from shiitake mushroom logs in Hachioji City, Machida City, Fuchu City, private land, and on other lands. We will also be searching for adult stag beetles from June to mid-September. From mid-September to the end of May, you will only be able to search for larvae. Meeting points will be Minami-Osawa Station, the Satoyama area of Fuchu, and the Satoyama area of Machida. What to bring: Plastic cases, gloves, insect repellent, helmets (to protect bicycles from falling trees), nets, hammers, etc. will be provided. (Parents are responsible for their children's hammers, but parents will generally be splitting the rotten wood and making it into an experience.) We look forward to your participation.
