If you are visiting Kyoto, why not try a special trip that can only be experienced by bicycle? Feel the tranquility and atmosphere of the ancient capital, and enjoy the small roads that cars cannot access, and the freedom to go at your own pace. Starting from the Higashiyama base, head for Fushimi Inari. After sightseeing at Fushimi Inari, head for the Biwako Canal along the cycling road along the Kamo River. If it is cherry blossom season, take photos at the Biwako Canal. Take photos at the large torii gate of Heian Shrine, pass under the large torii gate, and go along Shirakawa-suji. Take photos at the single bridge on Shirakawa-suji. Head through the city to Yasaka Shrine. You can see the downtown area of Kyoto. Take photos at Yasaka Shrine and return to the Higashiyama base.
There are many places in Kyoto that can only be reached by bicycle, such as the cycling road along the Kamo River and the single bridge along the Shirakawa River. Each one of these places will show you unforgettable scenery.
See Kyoto's streets and historical buildings from angles you can't experience by car or on foot. For example, the Kamo River and the historic Sanjo Ohashi Bridge, with the Kyoto streets visible beyond. And the great torii gate of Heian Shrine stretching out before your eyes, with the spectacular scenery as you cycle underneath. These are special views that are deeply etched in your mind because you can ride slowly by bicycle.
The roads of Kyoto are history itself. Riding through areas where old roads and townhouses remain makes you feel as if you are on a journey through time. By cycling, you can experience Kyoto's history and culture with all your senses.
