On this tour, you will visit Kishiwada, a fortress city that protected Osaka, Kyoto, and the Edo Shogunate from behind the scenes. Kishiwada City was an important base for defending Osaka and Kyoto from the Wakayama area, and at the same time connected Wakayama and Osaka through the Kishu Kaido road, playing a role in supporting the economic development of Osaka and Kyoto. Due to this historical background, Kishiwada has a strong presence of its own unique culture and traditions, including the Danjiri Festival, and you can experience a culture that is a little different from that of Osaka and Kyoto.

Danjiri Hall The Danjiri Hall displays the oldest surviving danjiri in Kishiwada. You can see the actual danjiri up close and be amazed at the intricacy of the carvings. In the experience corner, you can climb onto the roof of the danjiri and beat the drums. You can experience the excitement and power of the Danjiri Festival by not only watching but also experiencing part of the festival. On each floor, there are video materials that explain the danjiri and show you the highlights. You can learn about the depth of the danjiri. The Danjiri Festival is a festival full of energy and enthusiasm. At the Danjiri Hall, you can feel a part of that passionate festival.
Kishu Highway This is a road that has connected Wakayama and Osaka since ancient times. It is lined with houses that retain the atmosphere of the castle town era. Cycle through the town, which still retains the atmosphere of the castle town.
Kishiwada Castle Kishiwada Castle was a key castle protecting Osaka and Kyoto since the Sengoku period. It is a castle that combines boldness and beauty. The atmosphere of Kishiwada Castle is comparable to other castles, and it has even been used as a location for filming Hollywood movies.
Kofuan Lunch will be served at Kofuan, the oldest Noh theater in Osaka. You can see actual Noh masks. Having lunch while watching the Noh stage will make you feel as if you have entered a completely different space from your everyday living space.
Time schedule
Course Content We will rent bicycles at Kishiwada Station. First, we will head to the Danjiri Hall. At the Danjiri Hall, we will learn about the history and characteristics of the Danjiri Festival. After that, we will travel along the Kishu Kaido road that connects Wakayama and Osaka. While walking along the road where the Danjiri actually passes, you will feel closer to the Danjiri Festival, and at the same time, we will explain the structure of the town as a castle town of Kishiwada Castle, and you will experience the fortress city of Kishiwada. After visiting Kishiwada Castle, we will have lunch at Kofuan and return to Kishiwada Station, and then disband.
