Arashiyama

Kinkakuji (official name: Rokuonji) is a world-famous Zen temple located in Kita-ku, Kyoto City, characterized by its beautiful gold leaf exterior. It was built by the Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu during the Muromachi period, and was rebuilt as a Zen temple after his death.
