Mount Shichimen (1,989 meters) was established as a sacred mountain for the Nichiren sect of Buddhism in the late 13th century, and is still a mountain of faith climbed by many believers today. On the mountainside at the summit, there is a temple called Keishin-in, where you can stay overnight as a lodging. Along with believers, you can also participate in morning and evening religious services and enjoy vegetarian cuisine, making it an interesting cultural experience. On the first day, you will climb to Keishin-in in about four hours and stay overnight. On the second day, you will reach the summit in about one hour and then continue down to the trailhead. The hiking trail is well maintained, but the elevation difference is about 1,500 meters, making it a strenuous climb. You will need hiking equipment such as hiking shoes, rain gear, and a backpack.
