This magnificent bronze statue stands at 13.35m and is a symbol of Japan's rich Buddhist culture and the second tallest bronze Buddha in the country (own admission fee). Next, board the charming Enoden train, which is more than 100 years old. Passing through the sights and streets of Kamakura along the Shonan coast, you will explore the unique atmosphere and color of the place. Stop at Kamakura High School, experience the iconic railway crossings and roads, and stroll along the beach to soak up the sunshine and listen to the sound of the waves. If the weather is good, you may even be able to see Mount Fuji directly. Then, visit Enoshima Shrine, built by the imperial order of Emperor Kinmei in 552. We will be holding a river creature exploration for parents and children, so we look forward to your participation. On the day, please gather at the meeting place, rent waders (30 sets in stock, free of charge, from 15cm to 28cm), put on gloves, turn over stones, and catch fish and crayfish. Please bring a marine scrub, as it is required from spring, the end of March to autumn and the end of October. During the cold water period from winter to spring, they do not move, so you can catch them with your bare hands. The main targets for capture are turtles, frogs, catfish, mitten crabs, striped shrimp, Yamato swamp shrimp, American crayfish, Ukigoi, Chichibu, loach, Moroko, Motsugo, Japanese river snail, Taiwanese clam, dragonfly nymph, and river insects. Many creatures live behind the stones and many hide underneath, so turn over a lot of stones to see them. It is easier to catch them in the winter observation session. Japanese eels are born in the western waters of the Mariana Islands. They grow in rivers not only in Japan but also in East Asia, including China, Taiwan, and the Korean Peninsula, and are known to return to the Mariana Islands to spawn. Japanese eels (Anguilla japonica), which belong to the Anguilla genus of the eel family, are widely distributed in East Asia, including Japan, China, Taiwan, and Korea. In Japan, they mainly live south of Honshu, but there have been cases of them being caught in Hokkaido. Rental tackle, fishing rod, and equipment are included, so you can participate empty-handed. Two patterns of fishing will be done: casting fishing and plastic bottle tackle fishing, using earthworms as bait. While waiting for the tackle, you can fish for goby at your feet. The main target is eels, but sometimes you can also catch goby, crabs, and seigo. The tour lasts about 3 hours. The environment in which Japanese eels spend their growth period is wide, from coastal areas to the upper reaches of rivers, and includes not only freshwater areas but also brackish water and seawater. After several years to a dozen years, when they grow to a size of about 40 cm or more for males and about 50 cm or more for females, they begin to mature and are called silver eels. Silver eels leave their familiar rivers and coastal areas and travel to spawning grounds from autumn to winter. This event is held throughout the year, and after observing insects in the forest (larvae from autumn to spring), parents and children will explore the creatures in the river. On the day, gather at the meeting point and rent a Panasonic electric bicycle (with front and rear child seats, 20-inch and 24-inch MTBs are available for upper elementary school students) (free of charge). Put on gloves and go through the grass and turn over stones to catch fish and crayfish. Spring water and cold water points do not move, so you can catch them with your bare hands. The main targets for capture are turtles, frogs, catfish, Japanese mitten crabs, striped shrimp, Yamato swamp shrimp, American crayfish, Ukigoi, Chichibu, loach, Moroko, Motsugo, Japanese river snail, Taiwanese clam, dragonfly nymph, and river insects. We will experience scavenging in a small river about 2km upstream from Akiya Coast, but it is shallow and has clean water. Since the rocks are exposed in places, it is slippery, so marine shoes are essential for this tour.
