Plan description

First, you will observe the making of a Japanese sword (forging) for about an hour. After that, you will create a small knife under the guidance of a swordsmith who has inherited the art of making Japanese swords. The "Small Knife Making Experience" has been running for over 10 years. During that time, hundreds of people have tried it, and we have improved it to give you a better experience of blacksmithing. Everyone is worried, thinking "It looks difficult" or "Can I do it?" but don't worry. I'll be there with you. I'll fully support you! Experience the excitement of seeing your first small knife completed!

Tamahagane knife making experience

This small knife is made from the same material as Japanese swords (tamahagane). It is made in the same way as a Japanese sword. 1. The heated material is shaped with a hammer. 2. The shape is finished with a file. 3. Yakihado is applied. The shape of the blade pattern changes depending on how the yakihado is applied. 4. The knife is heated to 800°C and cooled in water. 5. It is polished with a whetstone so that it can be cut. 6. Your name or other text is engraved. You can take it home on the same day. Comes with a leather case and a special Japanese hand towel.

Japanese sword making tour

You will be able to observe the "forging" process. We will explain the process of sword making as you observe. If you wish, you may even be able to strike the hot steel with a sledgehammer!
