Welcome to the swordsmith Kikyo Junko's swordsmith workshop! I am often asked, "Do you still make Japanese swords?" Japanese swords are not used in modern times. I have no intention of making tools that will hurt people. It's a strange story because Japanese swords are originally weapons. As a maker, I can say that Japanese swords have a soul. It starts with making the jigane and takes time to make it. Then, the quenching is decided in an instant. When the quenching is done, the hamon appears, the jigane is activated, and the warp is born. When you hold a beautifully polished Japanese sword in your hand, you can feel a mysterious charm that you have never experienced before. There are many things to count, such as the shape, hamon, jigane, weight, feel, and tension of the blade. You will understand why Japanese people have cherished it for a thousand years. As a modern swordsmith, I want to make famous swords that resonate with the heart and are attractive.
