Unlike a standard chopstick-making experience where you just move the plane over the axis, you can make thin chopsticks using a plane stand invented by craftsman Kawaguchi! You can make thick chopsticks, square chopsticks, and if you try hard, you can make octagonal chopsticks. This is the only place in the country where you can make your own easy-to-use chopsticks. You can experience this from the third grade of elementary school! (Cypress wood is recommended for elementary school students, and mountain cherry wood is hard so in most cases it cannot be carved at all.) Lacquer is made from the sap of wood and has been used since the Jomon period, so it is safe for the body. There are very few shops that paint with genuine Japanese lacquer.
