Shiratani Unsuikyo is a forest of greenery and water, which is the image of Yakushima Short tours range from a 1-hour round-trip course to Yayoi Sugi (3000 Year old) to a 4-hour course to the Moss Forest. There are several rivers running through Shiratani Unsuikyo, which may be closed due to danger during heavy rains. In that case, change to Yakusugi Land.
This 4-hour course walks along the Kusugawa sidewalk. The Kusugawa sidewalk, which was made of granite during the Edo period, remains firmly even today, hundreds of years later, and has long been an important mountain trail used for visiting mountains and carrying out timber. If you walk along the Kusugawa sidewalk, you can see Yakusugi such as Nanahonsugi and Kugurisugi.
The moss forest is a green world covered with moss all over! Not only is it beautiful, but the rich green color of the moss and the formation of large stones and the branches and roots of a strangely shaped giant tree make you feel a powerful life. On the way back, I will go back to Yayoi Sugi on the way.
