Equipment rental is free!

Yamakara Yakushima Office 115 Awa, Yakushima-cho, Kumage-gun, Kagoshima Prefecture, 891-4311 *Rental items will be delivered, so we cannot offer trying on items in store.

6:00 AM - 7:00 AM *Depending on accommodation. Please check the final information email sent by Yamakara Yakushima 5 days before the tour (example subject: "[Final Information] [Yamakara XX month XX day (XX) Shiratani Unsuikyo]").

[About the Free Mountaineering Equipment Rental] <How to Apply> After your reservation is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation form with the rental items you need. You can select the items you need and enter your size using the rental application form. 1) Mountaineering boots (mid-cut shoes with a water-repellent upper); 2) Rainwear (top and bottom set made of waterproof and breathable material); 3) Backpack (20-30L capacity, water-repellent material); 4) Headlamp (required for early morning climbs); 5) Stock poles (one per person); 6) Cold weather gear (fleece) (not required in summer (June-September) ◆How to Pick Up Your Rentals: Free delivery to your accommodation on the island. We will deliver your equipment to your accommodation free of charge the day before your tour. If you would like to change the size, please contact the emergency contact listed in the final information email during office hours (10:00 AM - 6:00 PM). This tour takes you to Shiratani Unsuikyo Gorge, famous for its moss-covered forest, and Taikoiwa Rock, which offers a panoramic view of Yakushima's Okudake Mountains. Spending time listening to the sounds of the babbling brook amidst the deep green forest is sure to immerse you in the artistic space created by Yakushima's nature! A tour guide who lives and loves Yakushima will provide full support, and each guide will accommodate up to six people, so you can enjoy the tour with peace of mind. Tour Schedule: 7:00-8:30 AM: Pickup from accommodations in the Miyanoura, Awa, and Onoma areas. *You must stay the night before the tour on Yakushima. (Early morning arrivals on the day of the tour are not accepted.) *If you are staying at an accommodation outside the designated pick-up area (Miyanoura, Awa, and Onoma areas), please make your own way to the designated meeting point. 9:00 AM: Meet at the Shiratani Unsuikyo entrance. ~ Shiratani Unsuikyo Gorge (Moss Forest) ~ Taiko Rock ~ Round trip ~ 15:30-16:30 Descend Shiratani Unsuikyo Gorge → Return rental equipment and receive transportation to your accommodation, hot spring, airport, or port! *The above schedule is an example.
