ナイトツアーは初めての体験でした。19:20､名瀬のホテルに迎えに来ていただき、道中、観察のコツや楽しい話をしながら、公園に立ち寄り、クロウサギを見つける練習をし、はじめは探すのが難しかったのですが、直ぐに２羽3羽と、可愛らしいウサギに会う事ができました。ナイトツアーの基本は車内からの見学ですが、ハブに遭遇することのないよう、車外に降りる際もまずガイドの方が先に車の周りを確認してくださるので安心です。その後、夜間予約制のクロウサギの生息地へ向かう途中でも、アマミヤマシギ、アカマタなど、都度停車し、懐中電灯で照らして見せていただき、ワクワクしながら山道へ向かいました。ガイドさんは、見つけ方がとても上手で、私達も自分で探す楽しさで夢中でした。クロウサギだけでも30羽は見られたと思います。他にも琉球コノハズクの鳴き声や、崖の排水溝から顔を出すアマミイシカワガエルなど5種類の生き物や、“ジャックと豆の木”のモデルといわれる、“モダマ”の巨大な豆など、初めて見る物ばかりでした。
ガイドの加藤さんは明るくてとても元気な方で、動植物の知識も豊富で質問にも丁寧に答えて下さり、とても楽しめました。22:15、ホテルへ送迎、往復約70分、体験時間約110分でした。私たちは、グループツアーでなく、個人的にお願できるこのツアーを選んで大満足でした。また奄美行く際は是非お願いしたいと思います。
