Vegetable dyeing refers to the process of dyeing cloth by extracting pigments from flower petals, grass, and tree branches. This vegetable dyeing is also used in some of the dyeing techniques of Oshima Tsumugi. At Amami-no-Sato, you can actually dye handkerchiefs and other fabrics with plant dyes to create original handkerchiefs in deep colors. 初めての草木染体験でしたが、係りの方が丁寧に説明、お手伝いしてもらえたので、難しくなく高齢の両親でも楽しく作ることが出来ました。 出来たものをそのまま持ち帰れるので、帰りには1人ずつ違った柄を見て楽しみました。 施設の植物や日本庭園は手入れが行き届いていて素晴らしかったです。 また、同じ施設内のレストランも利用しましたが、奄美の郷土料理「鶏飯」もとても美味しかったです。 施設入口の受付の方はとても親切で、食事と体験のお手配もしてもらえてとても助かりました。
