Spend a full day creating a kozuka — a small decorative utility blade that was once concealed in the scabbard of a Japanese sword. The material used is the same as that used in real Japanese swords & tamahagane, the highest-grade steel in the world. During the experience, you will make a clay base (tsuchi-dai), inscribe a blade crest (yasurime), attach the blade, carve your name onto it, craft a kozuka case, and sharpen the blade to complete the piece. Our studio is the only place where you can experience both making a kozuka and sharpening it yourself. You will learn the Japanese sword-making process through hands-on work. Striking and shaping iron, and seeing the wave-like patterns emerge, is something you cannot fully understand until you try it yourself — making this a truly valuable learning experience. The experience is tailored to each participant’s ability, so minors and women are also welcome — there’s no need to worry. You are welcome to take photos and videos during the process! The fee covers the experience for one kozuka. Two or more people can work together to make one, but please let us know in advance when booking. If you wish to make more than one, please note that it will take approximately one extra hour per additional piece. Please allow plenty of time before the expected end time. It is also possible to start earlier upon request & feel free to contact us.

Come to Kanazawa! Whether it's sunny or rainy, wear a kimono and have fun! Even in Kanazawa, a city that looks good in kimonos, it would be a waste to just wear a kimono and go sightseeing! Since it's a rare opportunity, why not try to experience a little bit of Kanazawa's traditional culture and have an experience that can only be had at that time. "Even if you forget your lunch, don't forget your umbrella!" Kanazawa has a lot of rain, so you're worried about whether you can take a leisurely stroll in a kimono... If you try making kimono scrap art, you don't have to worry about that at all! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------<What is kimono scrap art making?>This is an experience where you carefully unravel kimonos that can no longer be worn due to holes caused by burning or stains that won't come off, and use small pieces of kimono scraps to paste them onto stencils to create a one-of-a-kind art piece. We have a variety of stencils unique to Kanazawa, such as the Tsuzumimon Gate at Kanazawa Station, the Kotoji lantern at Kenrokuen, and Kanazawa Castle, so please choose your favorite one! There are also easy stencils such as dinosaurs and flowers for children. Anyone can easily get started. It's interesting that even with the same pattern, the kimono scraps used can make a variety of different works! You can take the finished work home with you in a frame on the spot! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------<Plan Contents> ① First, you will dress in a kimono. Choose your favorite kimono from the variety of kimonos available. Leave the dressing to us! (Hair set is an additional ¥2,200) ② After dressing, you will create a one-of-a-kind kimono scrap art. Choose your favorite pattern, cut the scraps with scissors and paste them with glue. There is no answer to art! Some people create bold works, others delicate ones! You can experience the experience while chatting with friendly staff in a homely atmosphere, giving advice on recommended color combinations! Since it is an experience while wearing a kimono, it may be a little difficult to work, but let's have fun! ③ Decide the frame color ④ Choose the frame color and put the work in You can frame the finished work on the spot and take it home. We would be happy if you could hang it in your entrance or on the wall as one of the wonderful memories of your trip to Kanazawa. After the experience, you can head off to Kanazawa for sightseeing! Our first day in Kyoto was a bit of a wild ride but nothing topped our chopstick making Experience. My wife and I were on honeymoon and weren't sure what to expect. The house took us into his lovely machiya and did his best to communicate with us despite his difficulty with English and our difficulty with Japanese. He was nothing but helpful and guided our experience. It was quite amazing being shown how to shape the chopsticks and polished them into their final product. We ended up passing around our phone with Google Translate and sharing stories which made the experience memorable

"Ise Katagami" is used for dyeing kimonos. It is a traditional craft technique that has been passed down in Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture for over a thousand years. ``Ise Katagami'' is made by a craftsman called a katagami, who uses a chisel to carve intricate patterns and designs onto durable Japanese paper. It is surprising that more than 900 patterns are carved into a single inch (approximately 3cm) corner using a very fine piece of material. This time, we will be dyeing postcards using a pattern carved by Chiaki Imazaka, a traditional craftsman. Why not dye it in your favorite color, create an original postcard, and send it to your loved ones with a message? We also have 6 different designs of this year's zodiac signs, ``Dragon'' and ``Seahorse.'' We recommend sending it to a loved one or to yourself as a memento of your trip to Tokyo.
