Kintsugi is a repair technique in which cracks, chips, and other damaged parts of ceramics are glued together with lacquer and decorated with gold and other metal powder. It is also called Kintsukuroi. At our salon, we use simple lacquer instead of real lacquer, and we finish at a reasonable price. Tableware that holds a special meaning can be revived by Kintsugi, and upgraded by applying gold. We accept lessons and orders. Try your hand at making an authentic parquet keychain by cutting and gluing parquet blocks that make use of the natural wood color! Wood comes in a variety of colors, from brown, red, yellow, and even purple. The parquet block bars that form the basis of parquet work are made in advance by instructor Matsuura. You cut them with a craftsman's saw and combine them to make hearts, leaves, and any other shape you like. Once firmly glued together, polish them with sandpaper and finish with oil to complete the piece. Instructor Matsuura of Studio Kaede is a talented artist who won the top prize at the Dobi Exhibition in 2019. He will kindly teach even beginners the authentic craftsmanship!
