After deepening understanding by actually touching the kintsugi works, the history of kintsugi, the philosophy, materials and techniques, and lacquer will be introduced, The workshop will also include demonstrations of each step of the kintsugi process.Participants will experience some of the five processes including the final process of applying lacquer and metallic( tin )powder sprinkling. We share inspiring moments of kintsugi. Japanese tea will be included. All materials and tools will be provided.

At the Kanfu Pottery Hall, a guidance facility for the Kanfu Ancient Kiln Site, a nationally designated historic site where sueki, said to be the origin of Bizen ware, was fired, a Bizen artist will explain the history of Bizen ware, followed by a Bizen ware making experience. After the experience, you will have the opportunity to stroll through Shiomachi Karakoto Street, which retains the atmosphere from the Edo period to around 1955 and is home to many nationally registered cultural properties, eat the local dish "Suifu no Jabu Jabu" served on Bizen ware, and interact with local people.

Painting experience in Ginza, Tokyo / Experience painting "Red Fuji" and "Wave Fuji" from Katsushika Hokusai's famous painting series [36 Views of Mount Fuji] on a plate. Using Kutani paints (Japanese paints) on a Kutani white porcelain plate, you will create a beautiful, authentic Japanese-style masterpiece! *By using original outline transfer paper as a base, even complete beginners can create high-quality works in a short amount of time. After a lecture on how to use and paint with Japanese paints in the first 30 minutes and practicing, you will finish your work in about 2 hours. The only place in Komatsu where you can visit a farm and experience stone processing! Takigahara Town, Komatsu City is a production area of Takigahara stone with beautiful blue gray color. The numerous stone quarries (choba) with a history of more than 100 years and arch bridges made entirely of stone are the major reasons why Komatsu City has been certified as a Japanese heritage site for its stone culture. Ishizai Aratani Shoten is a stone material shop that manages the only active stone quarry in Takigahara, which used to have many stone quarries. The cave mining site is cool in summer and warm in winter, and maintains a consistent temperature year-round. In this program, an arch bridge and quarry made of Takigahara stone will be guided by Mr. Shuichiro Funatsu, a sculptor and geoguide who uses Takigahara stone for creative activities, and Mr. Yumi Aratani, the current owner of Stone Aratani Shoten. It is a unique experience where you can see and learn about Komatsu's stone culture and stone history while visiting the original. ☆ There is also a plan with a stone carving workshop ☆ After the tour, those who wish can touch and feel the stones at the stone carving workshop. *Reservations for the sculpture workshop have ended.
