Plan description

No need to prepare fishing gear or bait! You can participate empty-handed. Beginners will be carefully taught how to fish so you can enjoy the experience with peace of mind. ~Schedule~ 09:20/13:30: Meet at Ishikari Sato Fisheries Salmon Factory 09:40/13:50: Start smelt fishing (2 hours or more) Staff will fry the smelt you catch in between fishing sessions. 11:40/15:50: End of experience/disbandment *The above schedule is a guideline. Please note that the schedule may change depending on the situation on the day.

Ice fishing (winter only)

Only in winter can you enjoy ice fishing, where you make a hole in the frozen lake and fish. You can fish while sitting on a cross-legged chair specially designed for smelt fishing, which is less tiring on your back and knees. Winter boots are available for rental for a fee: for cleanliness and to keep warm, you should wear them over socks made of wetsuit material.

Ice shelter fishing

The ice shelter tent is warmed by outdoor oil stoves, and clean flush toilets for men and women are also provided, making this a comfortable plan for fishing. It is popular with families and women.

Cooking the caught fish

You can also eat the smelt you catch on the spot as tempura or fried food!
