Plan description

A private trekking tour with a guide around the sights of Mt. Nokogiri, a lesser-known mountain on the Boso Peninsula. This is a special tour that allows you to enjoy the sights of Mt. Nokogiri, a unique mountain where the remains of the stone-cutting industry that supported the region and the Buddhist world of Nihon-ji Temple are back to back, all in one day! We start by walking through the streets of Kanaya, which flourished as a stone-cutting industry from the Edo period to the Showa period, and then head to the Nokogiriyama Ropeway Station. After entering the grounds of Nihon-ji Temple and worshiping the "Hyakushaku Kannon," we trace the scenery and history of the remains of the quarry, which once flourished as a stone-cutting industry and now stands like an ancient ruin. After that, we proceed while listening to the guide's explanations about the sights such as the famous photo spots "Peeking into Hell" and "1,500 Arhats," and the tallest "Great Buddha" in Japan (as a seated statue and rock-carved Buddha), and finally descend the mountain by ropeway and disband. *There will be a lunch break along the way.

With a guide, you can efficiently see all the highlights in one day!

Nokogiriyama has a lot to offer, but for first-time visitors, the map can be hard to follow, and the ups and downs can be physically demanding, leading to some people saying they were unable to reach the places they wanted to see. This tour, led by a guide, allows you to efficiently visit both the stone-cutting industry side of Nokogiriyama and the Buddhist world of Nihon-ji Temple, and the explanations will help you gain a deeper understanding.

The observation deck offers a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji and Tokyo Bay!

From the observation deck you can get a panoramic view of Tokyo Bay, and if the weather is good you can see the Miura Peninsula and Mt. Fuji on the opposite shore.

There are plenty of photo spots!

There are many photo spots on Mount Nokogiri, including the famous "Hell's Peek." If you go with a guide, they will help you take photos!
