"Canadian Canoe" One of the winter Kushiro Wetland activities known to those in the know We will guide you leisurely on a Canadian canoe along the tributary Arekinai River (about 3 km round trip) that continues from Lake Toro, located in the eastern part of the wetlands, to the Kushiro River. This is a canoe tour on the calm Arekinai River, so even first-timers can participate with confidence. Please feel free to come to the winter outdoor world. *The 9:30 tour can only be reserved by JR trains.
From night to early morning, there is no wind, and in the morning when the temperature drops, river fog occurs on the surface of the water, and you can see hoarfrost that freezes the trees around. In addition, many natural art works such as frost flowers and splash ice appear on the riverside in winter, which is exactly the ice museum!
Kushiro Marsh, which boasts the largest area in Japan, is truly a treasure trove of wild animals. Canadian canoeing is the perfect way to quietly enter the realm of wildlife that live pristine. If you are lucky, you may be able to meet Yezo deer, white-tailed eagle, and Steller's sea eagle.
