Japanese paper or 'washi' making is a traditional craft officially recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural asset.
This course is unique in its application of new and experimental ideas in the art of Japanese papermaking.
Learn to make 'washi' (Japanese paper) art from start to finish.Boil and pound 'kozo' (paper mulberry), the primary fibers used for washi, in the natural surrounding of Tama, Tokyo.
Create unique washi art using innovative washi techniques!
Following your instructor, a Japanese washi artist, begin the experience from the first step in the papermaking process, stripping bark from branches, then boiling and beating them to a pulp.
First, you will craft using the freshly made washi will be a traditional washi'candle', with a mini LED lamp. The second one will be a unique piece of washi art in the form of a color painting.
After the course, you can visit TsuruTsuru Onsen also known as "The Fountain of Youth" allows tattoos, features outdoor cypress and stone baths by yourselves.Reachable in 20 minutes by bus.

Be sure to board one of the correct cars. • Please be aware that since the pick-up capacity limited, it may not be possible for spectators to accompany course participants. |
