Odate and Noshiro area

Odate City is popular for its local Akita dish, "Kiritanpo Nabe," and the Akita Inu Hall. Kitaakita City is famous for viewing the frost-covered trees of Ani, and you can experience winter activities around the Shirakami-Sanchi Mountains, which stretches across the Noshiro Yamamoto region. It takes about an hour and a half by express train from Akita Station to Odate, and about 50 minutes by express train from Akita Station to Higashi-Noshiro.

Kisakata and Mt. Chokai area

The area is rich in underground water from Mt. Chokai, and there are many sake breweries in the area. You can enjoy various activities around Mt. Chokai, such as skiing and trekking. It is about 2 hours and 20 minutes by car from Akita Station.

In winter, Lake Towada is captivated by the fantastic scenery created by the interweaving snow and ice. The annual Lake Towada Winter Story and Hachimantai Ski Resort offer Akita's first snow activity, "Snow Drive." Kazuno is about a two-and-a-half hour drive from Akita Station.
Lake Tazawa, Kakunodate, and Omagari area

You can enjoy snow activities around Lake Tazawa and various hot springs such as Nyuto Onsenkyo. Lake Tazawa is about 1 hour and 10 minutes by car from Akita Station, Kakunodate is about 1 hour by Shinkansen from Akita Station, and Omagari is about 30 minutes by Shinkansen from Akita Station.
Yokote/Yuzawa area

Yokote City is famous for its "Kamakura" snow huts, a winter event celebrating the New Year with fantastic snow lights. Yuzawa City also hosts the "Dog Festival," where snow sculptures and dogs decorate the city. It is about an hour's drive from Akita Station.
Oga Peninsula area
