Plan description

Enjoy a sauna experience in the special space of a nationally registered tangible cultural property. The scent of Aomori cypress wafts through the air, while an authentic Finnish stove creates a heat wave. Enjoy a self-loyly experience using sauna stones made from Oga's "kanaishi" (metallic stone), which is also used in Oga's specialty dish, "stone-grilled cuisine." Enjoy a relaxing time in a sauna that evokes nature. To allow you to enjoy the experience empty-handed, the price includes an original Morinaga sauna hat with a "Namahage" motif, one face towel, and one large towel for the sauna room, so you can feel free to use it. *This plan is for reservations at the men-only Kura Sauna. (Please note that women can only use the sauna on Ladies' Day, the second Tuesday and fourth Sunday, and in the morning sauna reserved for guests.)

A retreat experience that stimulates all five senses

This sauna is a rare sight even nationwide: an entire storehouse has been converted into a sauna. The interior is made of Aomori cypress. The sauna stones are made of Oga's "Kanaishi" (metallic stone), which is named for its hard, shatter-resistant stones and their red-hot, metallic appearance. Every month, Aufguss experiences are held by staff certified as A-class sauna masters by the Japan Sauna Heat Wave Aufguss Association, as well as other sauna masters. After your sauna session, be sure to try the "Oga Salt Lemon" frozen candy, developed exclusively for Morinaga's sauna by Okashi no Gontaro, a long-established Japanese and Western confectionery shop located in the same Funakawa district as Morinaga. A complimentary sauna-specific detox water with sweat-inducing properties is included.

If you arrive by car

From Akita City, head north on National Route 7 towards Oga City. It takes about 50 minutes to reach Oga Station. If you are using the expressway, get off the Akita Expressway at the Showa Oga Peninsula Interchange and take National Route 101 to Oga Station. Parking: 12 cars, large buses: not allowed

If you arrive by train

Take the JR Oga Line from Akita Station and arrive at Oga Station in about an hour. The Oga Line operates several times a day and is a convenient direct train, but please check the timetable in advance as the number of trains is limited. The hotel is a one-minute walk from Oga Station.

If you arrive by other means of transportation

[For those arriving by plane] If you are coming from Akita Airport, you can use the "Airport Limousine Bus + Train" or "Rental Car". If you are using the Airport Limousine Bus, you will first need to take a bus to Akita Station and then transfer to the JR Oga Line to head to Oga Station.
