In winter, Shiretoko's famous waterfall, Furepe Falls, transforms into blue icicles, and the spray from the falls, whipped by the north wind, creates a mystical formation. Behind Furepe Falls, the snow-white Shiretoko Mountain Range towers, and during the drift ice season from late January to early March, a majestic field of drift ice spreads out below. To reach Furepe Falls, put on snowshoes and walk freely through the forest, searching for forest creatures and their traces. Areas that are difficult to access from spring to autumn become accessible thanks to snow and snowshoes, making this tour a unique opportunity for many new discoveries.
