Please bring a marine scrub, as it is required from spring, the end of March to autumn and the end of October. During the cold water period from winter to spring, they do not move, so you can catch them with your bare hands. The main targets for capture are turtles, frogs, catfish, mitten crabs, striped shrimp, Yamato swamp shrimp, American crayfish, Ukigoi, Chichibu, loach, Moroko, Motsugo, Japanese river snail, Taiwanese clam, dragonfly nymph, and river insects. Many creatures live behind the stones and many hide underneath, so turn over a lot of stones to see them. It is easier to catch them in the winter observation session. We will experience scavenging in a small river about 2km upstream from Akiya Coast, but it is shallow and has clean water. Since the rocks are exposed in places, it is slippery, so marine shoes are essential for this tour. With its jagged ridgeline resembling the teeth of a saw, and the remains of the quarry where Boso stone was quarried by the stone-cutting industry until the Showa era, it looks like an abandoned building, and this otherworldly space that appears in the middle of nature has become popular. On this tour, you will pass through the streets of Kanaya, which once flourished as a stone-cutting industry, and climb the "Sharikko Road," a road that once transported quarried stone, with a guide. While enjoying the climb, which is low above sea level but has a large elevation difference, you will feel the breath of the craftsmen of the time, and trace the history of how Boso stone supported Japan's modernization and declined over time.
