In this workshop, you will experience the final coating and sprinkling of gold powder on old Japanese pottery that has been restored over time by a Kintsugi expert using real lacquer. The materials used are lacquer and real gold powder. Because it is a natural material, it is a traditional method that is completely food safe and ideal for tableware. Each step up to the finishing stage will be demonstrated using actual tools and materials, and we will introduce the history and philosophy of Kintsugi behind it, as well as various finishing methods and aftercare. Unlike the calligraphy sets you can buy at shopping malls or schools, we use calligraphy tools procured from traditional calligraphy shops, so it's perfect for those who want to get a taste of the real thing and Japanese culture. This plan supports Japanese, English, Spanish, Italian, and French. Most calligraphy experiences take 60 to 90 minutes, but the JanDara calligraphy experience takes 120 minutes. This is a hands-on class for foreign visitors to Japan to experience the traditional Japanese culture of calligraphy. Located in Jimbocho, the town of second-hand books, this calligraphy class is supported by leading instructors who will help you have a memorable experience of Japanese culture, calligraphy. We will assign kanji to your name and prepare a sample in advance. First, while grinding the ink, the instructor will explain the calligraphy tools, how to sit, how to hold and use the brush, etc. You will be carefully taught how to write the kanji for your name, your favorite characters, or the words you want to write, and at the end, you will finish it into a colored paper or fan to take home as a souvenir. All tools will be provided. Please feel free to join us empty-handed.
