A swordsmith will teach you how to make Japanese knives using blacksmith techniques. Using the same material as Japanese swords, Tamahagane, the forged iron is shaped with a hammer. You can make your own clay holder and add a blade crest. Attach the blade, cut your name on it, and sharpen it to complete it. Although it is a physically demanding job, the swordsmith will be happy to assist you, so don't worry if you are not confident in doing the heavy lifting, such as children or women. You can take photos and videos while working! The trial fee is for one Japanese knife. You can also make one book for two or more people. In that case, please let us know how many people will be participating in the experience when making a reservation. If you are making a reservation for three or more, it will take a little longer. Please arrive with plenty of time to spare before the closing time. We may be able to move the start time forward, so please contact us.
We had an awesome time at the knife making experience in master Masaya Yoshidas workshop. One of his apprentices, Robert, a native English speaker, instructed and helped us all the way to the finished product. We love the knife and now use it in our Kitchen on a daily basis. Robert also answered every question we had about the rich history behind the craft of Japanese sword making and we got to observe and chat with the master too. Your knife is made from the same Tamagahane steel as a Katana, so it's a really cool and practical souvenir. Thank you so much for having us! Great memories!

A swordsmith will teach you the techniques of Japanese sword making and spend a whole day making a short sword with a blade length of less than 30 cm. During the experience, charcoal cutting, tamaheshi, tsutsubokashi, forging, unbending, fire making, soil placement, quenching, and blacksmith sharpening will be performed. The sword will then be registered and sharpened at a later date, and will be shipped to your home along with a registration certificate. If you select an option, you can also choose a Japanese sword such as a wakizashi (large) (small), katana, or tachi. Registration, packaging, and shipping fees are all included in the price. *Due to the Firearms and Swords Possession Control Act, the swordsmith will engrave the swordsmith's name on the sword. It is possible to engrave the participant's name as well. In addition, registration and sharpening are required, so it will take 6 to 9 months to deliver the sword. *The address, name, and phone number are required for the owner's details for the registration review and for shipping the finished product. If they are different from those registered with Activity Japan, please be sure to contact us here. If there is no contact, we will register and ship the sword as is. *If shipping overseas, please check for yourself whether the country can receive Japanese swords. In addition, export procedures, packaging fees, and shipping fees will be required separately. The amount varies depending on the country, so please contact us in advance. Payment will be made in cash on the day. *Damaged or scratched acrylic cases cannot be repaired, so please handle them carefully.

Spend a full day creating a kozuka — a small decorative utility blade that was once concealed in the scabbard of a Japanese sword. The material used is the same as that used in real Japanese swords & tamahagane, the highest-grade steel in the world. During the experience, you will make a clay base (tsuchi-dai), inscribe a blade crest (yasurime), attach the blade, carve your name onto it, craft a kozuka case, and sharpen the blade to complete the piece. Our studio is the only place where you can experience both making a kozuka and sharpening it yourself. You will learn the Japanese sword-making process through hands-on work. Striking and shaping iron, and seeing the wave-like patterns emerge, is something you cannot fully understand until you try it yourself — making this a truly valuable learning experience. The experience is tailored to each participant’s ability, so minors and women are also welcome — there’s no need to worry. You are welcome to take photos and videos during the process! The fee covers the experience for one kozuka. Two or more people can work together to make one, but please let us know in advance when booking. If you wish to make more than one, please note that it will take approximately one extra hour per additional piece. Please allow plenty of time before the expected end time. It is also possible to start earlier upon request & feel free to contact us.

This is a plan where you can make as many glass beads as you want. It is a rare plan that you rarely see. You can usually make around 30 beads, from small to large. The smaller the beads, the easier they are for beginners. This is suitable for people who like to immerse themselves in the process. There are many people who come to make this plan many times. Since this is a self-plan, you will start by applying a release agent to the iron core. The instructor will be nearby, but this is a method where you deepen your knowledge by yourself, which is different from one-on-one lessons where you will be constantly supervised. For beginners, it is easier to understand if you start with small beads. If you have made beads many times, you can start with your favorite size and pattern. Choose your favorite pattern and color from over 100 types of glass, melt it with a burner, and wrap the glass around the iron core to make a large round bead. We will teach you the basic patterns (marble and polka dots). Please make many small beads by yourself. You can choose from three types of marble, polka dots, etc., so you can create your own original glass beads by combining colors and patterns! You can make many, so they are perfect as gifts for friends and family. Note: We will instruct you to avoid any danger of burns. You can make many, but we will recommend what you can make without overdoing it. If you want to make something special, please apply for the all-you-can-make special with thorough instruction. ☆-----★-----☆-----★-----☆-----★-----☆-----★ [Fee] 5,400 yen [Experience time] About 2 and a half hours [What you will make] All-you-can-make glass beads. Patterns include dots, three types of marble, etc. *One piece will be assembled into a ribbon pendant. You can take it home on the day. [Clothing] There is no particular designation, but please come in clothes that you don't mind getting a little dirty. [Age target] From 3 to 80 years old Anyone, regardless of age or gender, can enjoy this activity. [What to bring] There is nothing in particular, but if you are worried about getting dirty, please bring an apron. *Rental aprons are available (300 yen extra). ☆-----★-----☆-----★-----☆-----★-----☆-----★
