One of the major themes of Kitsuki tourism is "a town that suits Japanese clothes". This castle town, which has also been called Little Kyoto, has the atmosphere of Edo everywhere in the city, giving visitors the charm of taking a time trip to Edo. Amamie Kobo is a quiet creative space renovated from an Oshima Tsumugi factory. Here, you can experience making your own original T-shirt using the "Amami Bingata" stencils, which are based on the plants and scenery of Amami. It's a special time to hand-dye your own one-of-a-kind shirt while feeling the nature and culture of the island. There are motifs that are typical of Amami, such as plants and scenery. 11:00 Mix the pigments and start dyeingMix the pigments according to the design you have chosen, and dye the T-shirt with the base color. Would you like to try your hand at calligraphy? After choosing your favorite character from the sample and practicing, you can finish by writing it on colored paper to take home. You will then stamp your name in hiragana on your work and it will be complete. After your calligraphy experience, we will provide you with matcha tea and Japanese sweets (nerikiri). If you would like to try making matcha, we will teach you. It will also be a valuable opportunity to enjoy the matcha that you have made yourself.
