A hiking tour that connects old roads and visits the five Togakushi shrines Togakushi is a historical place of worship from which the legend of Amano-Iwato, a Japanese myth, is derived. It is also a sacred place for Shugendo, where the trainees have been practicing in the steep mountains since ancient times. On this tour, you will visit the five shrines of Hokkosha, Fire Mikosha, Chusha, Okusha and Kuzuryusha, which are enshrined in Togakushi, and enjoy the ancient roads and beautiful nature of Togakushi that still remain. .. This is a one-day hiking tour where you can feel the beautiful nature of the Togakushi Plateau, which changes with the seasons, and the historical culture that has been passed down. ~ Flow of the day ~ 8:30 Meet at Kurohime Station Meet at Kurohime Station. Take the guided shuttle car to the tour start point. 9:00 Tour start Tour starts from Yunomine Observatory. If the weather is nice, enjoy the spectacular view of the Northern Alps from the observatory and head to Hokkosha. The majestic shrine built in the Edo period, which appears in front of you when you do your best to climb the stone steps, retains the remnants of the Shinto and Buddhist era. Head to Chusha through Shinto. 10:45 Chusha area The Chusha area is lined with many shukubo, soba shops, and Togakushi bamboo craft shops. The Sasagamine Plateau is a basin-like plateau area surrounded by mountains at an altitude of 2000 m on the prefectural border between Niigata and Nagano prefectures. Located at an altitude of 1300m, people began to enter this deep mountainous area from around the Edo period. Yumemidaira is a forest that spreads beyond the dam bank of Lake Otomi. There used to be a sawmill here, and forestry workers and others lived in this deep mountain. In the forest of giant trees of beech and quercus crispula, walk along the promenade that was set up on the track traces of the past, and when you go near the Hyosawa River, which is the prefectural border with Nagano Prefecture, there is a huge wig that can be called the elder of the forest. This is a one-day cycling tour that will allow you to fully experience the nature, history, and culture of Myoko-Togakushi Renzan National Park, including the view of the Hokushin Five Mountains that spreads out before your eyes, the history of Lake Nojiri and the excavation of Naumann's elephant fossils, and a course that follows an irrigation channel that was built 350 years ago. There are also plenty of adventure elements, such as downhill on unpaved roads!
