If the weather is good, you may even be able to see Mount Fuji directly. Then, visit Enoshima Shrine, built by the imperial decree of Emperor Kinmei in 552. Admire the colorful eight-armed Benzaiten, the nationally designated cultural asset of the Eight-Treasure Turtle by Fujiwara Masahiro, and the bronze torii gate that is said to be the origin of Enoshima. Continue to Kamakura's Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine to visit a shrine that embodies the spirit of Japan.
