The Etchu Yatsuo Owara Kaze no Bon Festival is a folk song event with over 300 years of history, held every year from September 1st to 3rd in Etchu Yatsuo. The sophisticated dancing, singing, and musical performances attract many people every year. On this special trip, you can watch the Owara dance, which is deeply rooted in this area, from a distance that is not normally possible in a private tatami room. You can also actually dance with the local people!
You will be able to enjoy the Owara dance in a special space, exclusively for tour participants.
Yao Town once flourished through sericulture and the nationwide distribution of silkworm eggs, and is also home to the Etchu Yao Hikiyama Festival. Let's take a closer look at its history!

Departing from Toyama Station The fun journey begins!
Etchu Yao Tourist Hall You will learn about the history of Yao Town, its sericulture industry, and its gorgeous float culture. Yao's spring festival, the Hikiyama Festival, which has been passed down since the 1740s, is a symbol of the prosperity of Yao merchants, who prospered through the production and trade of raw silk, silkworm eggs, Japanese paper, and charcoal. Hikiyama and local performing arts have been passed down through the generations as part of this prosperous lifestyle. At the exhibition hall, you can see three Hikiyama floats at any given time, along with the elegant Hikiyama music.

Yao Owara Museum At the Yao Owara Museum, you can see exhibits about the history of Owara, as well as the songs, dances, costumes, and instruments. In the video exhibition room, you can enjoy fantastical and elegant videos of Owara.
Etchu Yao Base OYATSU/Lunch Enjoy a course meal made with local chefs using mountain produce and meat.
Etchu Yao Base OYATSU/Owara Built in 1872, this old house was renovated from the residence of a merchant who was a wholesaler of raw silk and Etchu washi paper, and also ran a silkworm farm. You will enjoy a specially prepared lunch and a traditional Owara performance right before your eyes.
