Character Design Bootcamp: Learn from the pros in Niigata, the city of manga and anime

The Character Design Bootcamp is an experiential program held in Niigata, the city of manga and anime, where participants can learn in depth about character creation for anime, comics, and games. Participants will participate in character creation workshops taught by professional artists and university professors, and will be immersed in manga and anime culture while enjoying tours of Niigata city and special experiences. ■Scheduled dates (2025-2026): October 4th (Sat) - October 5th (Sun), October 25th (Sat) - October 26th (Sun), November 8th (Sat) - November 9th (Sun), December 26th (Fri) - December 27th (Sat), January 17th (Sat) - January 18th (Sun)

Beginners to digital illustration are welcome. You will learn background design, character development, drawing, and more step by step. At the end, you will create your own original character and take it home as your smartphone wallpaper or other items. This is a practical and engaging class taught by professional character designers and university professors.

Participants will have the opportunity to interact directly with manga artists through lectures and networking events, and will also have the opportunity to view a valuable collection of original drawings and autographs at the Niigata City Manga and Anime Information Center.
