Homespun, a handicraft that has been passed down in Iwate since the Taisho era, is a tradition in Morioka, Japan's only home-spun and hand-woven region. Experience weaving your own hand-woven scarf on a tabletop loom. The instructor will provide the warp threads, and you can choose your preferred weft thread (though the thread is not hand-spun, it is wool). Target audience: Beginners to hand weaving. Time: 10:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Maximum participants: 4 people. Course fee: ¥12,000 (materials included) *Includes a precious Iwakayama wool keychain. Experience flow: 10:30 AM - Explanation of process: 10:40 AM - First, choose your thread, then your favorite color, and begin weaving. All that's left is to weave! Facing the loom, enjoy the joy of immersing yourself in handweaving.
Experience the long-awaited art of weaving for a day. Choose your favorite thread for the weft and enjoy the slow, steady weaving.
Most of the participants are beginners. Even if you are not good at using your hands, don't worry. The instructors will provide gentle and careful support.
This is a one-day experience program, so tourists can easily participate.
