Homespun, a handicraft that has been passed down in Iwate since the Taisho era, is a tradition in Morioka, Japan's only homespun region, where hand-spun and hand-woven rugs are produced. Handweaving is all about large, high-speed looms. Experience using the coveted high-speed loom and weave a handwoven rug. The instructor will provide the warp threads, and you can choose your preferred weft thread (though the thread is not hand-spun, it is wool). Target: Beginners and up. Time: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM (45-minute lunch break). Capacity: Limited to one person. Fee: ¥15,000 (materials included) *Includes a precious Iwn wool keychain. Experience Schedule: 10:00 AM - Explanation of the process. 10:10 AM - First, choose your thread, then your favorite color, and begin weaving. All that's left is to weave! 12:00 PM - Lunch (Eat your lunch in the classroom or visit a nearby restaurant). 12:45 PM - Continue in the afternoon.
Experience the long-awaited art of weaving for a day. Choose your favorite thread for the weft and enjoy the slow, steady weaving.
Most of the participants are beginners. Even if you are not good at using your hands, don't worry. The instructors will provide gentle and careful support.
This is a one-day experience program, so tourists can easily participate.
