Plan description

In the winter, you can enjoy ice fishing for smelt around Lake Ogawara in Aomori Prefecture. Lake Ogawara is the number one smelt resource in Japan! The Anenuma smelt fishing spot is connected by a waterway, and the fish are dense and the water is shallow, making it very easy to fish. On this tour, we will prepare everything for you, including digging holes with a drill, setting up and taking down tents, and preparing your fishing gear. Anyone can participate empty-handed. After receiving a lecture on the precautions and how to fish, you can start fishing right away, so even beginners can feel at ease. You can deep-fry and eat the smelt you catch. Freshly caught smelt is exceptionally delicious! Once you're done fishing, you can go home without cleaning up. The tour generally runs from mid-January to the end of February. Please note that the time may change slightly depending on the ice conditions.

Lake Ogawara, which is connected by a waterway, is the number one place in Japan for smelt resources! Smelts come from Lake Ogawara one after another to the Ane-numa smelt fishing spot as they spawn upstream. The water is shallow, about 3m deep, so it's an easy fishing spot even for beginners.

Come empty-handed. A fun fishing tour where you can catch fish and go home right away!

There is no need to worry about setting up tents or preparing fishing gear. We will take care of everything from preparation to cleanup. We also provide a fishing lesson, so even beginners can feel at ease.

Freshly caught smelt is something else! Enjoy the deliciousness of fresh smelt!

You can try the deep-fried smelt you catch on the tour. Freshly caught smelt have no fishy smell and are exceptionally delicious, so we recommend you try them. If there is a food truck set up, you can have them made into pizza for an additional fee. Smelt pizza is also delicious!
