Plan description

At Yoko Furuya's solo exhibition (focusing on her gold-lacquered works), we will be holding a tea ceremony by Nakamura Josen, head of the Kogetsuku Enshu school of Zen tea ceremony. The tea ceremony will use gold-lacquered tea bowls. Why not enjoy a cup of matcha in a hideaway in Ginza surrounded by solid wood? It will be a tea ceremony held on a table, so please feel free to come.

A casual tea ceremony experience

Matcha and tea ceremonies have many manners and are considered to be high-class. This time, we will be doing a casual tea ceremony called tachireishiki, where the tea is prepared on the table, so anyone can enjoy it casually. We will teach you everything you need to know on the spot, including how to drink tea. You can experience the experience empty-handed and in any attire. Anyone who wants to try drinking matcha can feel free to give it a try. Children are welcome to come along too.

Kintsugi vessel

You can see an exhibition of gold-finished pottery by gold-finishing artist Yoko Furuya. It is also a rare opportunity to actually use gold-finished pottery. Please enjoy the "beauty born from imperfection" of gold-finishing, which creates new beauty by repairing broken parts rather than hiding them.
