Amami Oshima was registered as a World Natural Heritage Site in 2021. As the reason for its registration is ``biodiversity,'' this island has many unique flora and fauna. Yuwandake is the most important place where many endemic species live. There are two routes to climb Mt. Yuwandake, but on this tour, you will walk up the wooden stairs from the 9th parking lot to the observation deck and shrine near the top. It's not a mountain trail, so it's easy to walk, and you can observe plants unique to Mt. Yuwandake along the way. (Anyone who has no problem walking or going up and down stairs in daily life can participate. The walk will take about 30 minutes each way.) On a clear day, you can see a wide view of Amami Oshima from the observation deck. However, as the name ``cloud forest'' suggests, Mt. Yuwandake has a unique environment where clouds and fog gather throughout the year, and there is a lot of rain. Therefore, if you're lucky you can see the view from the observation deck, but for me (the guide), the real view is on rainy days. We want you to enjoy this natural environment! After Mt. Yuwandake, we will stop at Materia Falls to take commemorative photos and have tea time. Date: Meet at Naze Sports Park in Amami City or pick up at hotel ↓ Transfer to Mt. Yuwandake (travel time varies depending on the pick-up location) Arrival at Mt. Yuwandake parking lot ↓ Arrive at Nature Walk Observation Deck/Shrine while observing flora and fauna ↓ Arrival at Shimoyama parking lot ↓ Transfer 15 minutes Materia Falls ↓ Arrive at hotel on the way back
Regardless of the number of participants, the tour will be a private tour for only one group. There are no other customers, so even those with small children or the elderly can participate with peace of mind. You can eat and drink inside the car, so you can enjoy it freely without worrying about anyone else.
The guides we will be guiding you through are young certified guides with experience in eco-tours on Amami Oshima. You can also enjoy Mt. Yuwandake with peace of mind, as it is recommended to be accompanied by a guide.
Did you know that the entire area of Amami Oshima is actually not a World Heritage Site? Approximately 16% of the island is designated as a heritage area, most of which is deep in the mountains and difficult to access. But with this tour, you can take a walk around Yuwandake and Materia Falls, two of the most important World Heritage Sites!

Please be aware that you will be walking in the rain before participating.・The destination of the trek is a shrine with an observation deck. The summit is a few hundred meters away, but please note that access is currently prohibited due to nature conservation reasons. |

・If you come directly, we will use the Amami City Naze Sports Park parking lot, but we can pick you up and drop you off anywhere on Amami Oshima.・Transportation is free in the Naze area, but for those staying in other areas, a fee of ¥20 per kilometer from Naze will be charged for actual fuel costs.
・70 minutes by car from Amami Airport ・10 minutes by car from Amami City Naze City Parking lot available for 95 regular cars, 4 buses, and 3 spaces for the disabled.
