This is an authentic tea ceremony experience offered at a 1000-year-old tea room of the Daisho-in.
The tea room is very small, only 3 tatami mats in size and with no lights as it was built in accordance with a formal planning and construction.
Arrangements of rooms and design, building materials have all been kept from the time it was first built, so simply to see or sit in this tea room can be a valuable experience.
Hanging scroll and flowers displayed in tokonoma, tea tools including kettle and bowls.
Sweets, tea, an instructor wearing kimono, tea room manners to show respect to the guests.
This little space is packed with traditional necessities of life: food, clothing and shelter.
Enjoy an authentic tea ceremony in a tranquil garden.
※English guide book「Daihonzan Daisho-in Temple of Miyajima Misen」will be presented.
※English speaking guide is available.
A 1000-year-old Daisho-in tea room is a building where traditions have been preserved.
Enjoy your special time in this tea room where you can feel the history and traditions.
★Our instructor is a well-known Urasenke teacher Sousei Iwamoto.
★As a memory of the experience we present a fridge magnet of Itsukushima Shrine.
We also accept group participants.
① Assemble：Please arrive 15 minutes earlier
② Explanation of manners of how to enter the tea room and how to take a seat.
③ Please have sweets first.
※We explain how to take and divide sweets.
④ Watch instructor's tea preparation.
⑤ You can enjoy your tea by learning how to drink and how to handle your tea bowl.
※You may have a chat with an instructor and learn about
hanging scrolls and tea tools.
⑥ Tour ends with commemorative photo shooting.

Reach 'Miyajimaguchi Pier' from SANYO Expressway'Ono IC' or 'Hatsukaichi IC' change to National Route 2 (about 10 min.）
※All roads in Miyajima island are very narrow, mostly suitable for walking tours. Please use parking lot on Miyajimaguchi side.
Walk to Miyajimaguchi Pier (About 6 minutes from JR Miyajimaguchi station). Take JR Miyajima sea liner or Miyajima Matsu-tourist ferry bound for Miyajima.
About 30-minute walk from Miyajima pier.
