    4~5 hours

The first-ever mountain hiking experience for overseas visitors in Miyajima and the tour is conducted by an officially recognized guide.
We will take ’Omoto’ course which is considered to be the most scenic route among other hiking courses.

The distance from ferry terminal to the top of the mountain is about 6 km. We will reach 535 m. height above sea level slowly within 3 hours.
On the way to the top you can see many 'chouseki', roadside stones for indicating distances and some old chouseki-stones have 'Ojizo-sama' (a statue of god who looks over children and travelers).
Close to the peak of the mountain, there is a Miyama Shrine built over 1200 years ago as an "okunomiya" (rear shrine) of Itsukushima Shrine and the summit of the Miyajima mountains is worshiped as a territory of God.
This hiking route was actually a pathway to the shrine since it was opened 1200 years ago.

The mountain roads are surrounded by deep forests home to many endemic species, huge and mysterious rocks formed by nature, existing historical sites - all of these attract tourists to the Mount Misen.
Along the way you will see many beautiful scenery you would love to capture on your camera, especially a view to the Seto Inland sea from the top of the mountain is incredible.
In winter Mount Misen covered in snow and the view of Seto Inland sea below can be exceptionally beautiful.

Enjoy Miyajima's history and nature through mountain hiking.

Join our Omoto course of Mount Misen hiking tour to learn about Miyajima’ history and culture, and enjoy its nature as well.

This route is also a pathway to the Miyama Shrine and as you step further you might feel as if you were entering the territory of God.

A distance between each chouseki is 109 meters, which is
counted as "icho" and after one "icho" you will know how long is left to reach your destination.

Kiezuno Reikado (A holy flame that keeps burning and never extinguishes)

At Reikado near the peak of the mountain there is a holy flame that keeps burning over 1200 years and it became known as 「Kiezunohi」which means never extinguishing fire.

It is used as a source flame for the light of Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park

At this Reikado, a hot water boiled in a big kettle is believed to cure all kinds of diseases.

One cup of this hot water will definitely make you feel relaxed.

Enjoy COOL HIROSHIMA♪

Free choice of descent routes

To descend a mountain you will be offered the best route depending on seasons, weather conditions and your physical ability and etc.

In autumn you can take cable car to watch beautiful autumn foliage.

If you enjoy walking down a bit more, we recommend 'Daishoin course', which passes through the Daishoin Temple.

This route is perfect to descend a mountain.

* Please note that a cable car will be overcrowded during the May holidays, autumn foliage seasons, and weekends.
