Deeply connected to Japanese history and culture, this fascinating Buddhist practice is a must-have experience when you are in Japan.
※English interpreter is available and all participants will be given free English guide books 'Daihonzan Daisho-in Temple of Miyajima Misen'.

Relax and ease your mind by copying sutras

You will copy the sutra of 'Hannya Shingyo' (The Heart Sutra) which concludes the teachings of Buddha in 276 letters.

You will put a paper on the sample text and trace letters, so this experience is suitable even for those who cannot write Chinese characters.

As you sit straight and focus on writing we hope that you will gradually find your inner calm.

Overwhelming Homa ritual experience

The homa is a fire ritual in Buddhism.

The homa sticks are a piece of woods on which prayers are written.

The priest stands in front of a fire and chants Buddhist mantra, while others throw homa sticks into the fire and pray.

The huge plume of smoke rising up to the ceiling means the homa sticks have been purified and received by the God.
