At "Tekoboko-An", a accessory handiwork experience shop in Kyoto, you will learn how to make hair-pin and other hair accessories in the most traditional technique that found in Edo period. Let's make an original Japanese style item which indicates the season and Japanese aesthetic senses.
There are surprising varieties of kinds of hair-pin we prepared in the shop. First, determine your favorite type of hair-pin that you will make during the experience. After that, We prepared two types of cloth that one is crepe, the other is used cloth. Select color and cloth you would use. The crepe is more recommended to those who are beginners of handiwork, but also the used cloth with a good texture is attractive.
Fold the cloth to small triangles as flower petals. Since it is a very detailed task, it require you more time and patience. Put petals you made on a board side by side, then fix the parts with glue. Stick pearl or beads in the center of the flower, then the hairpin is done!

Colors and patterns are your choice! It is also a fun time to combine your favorite colors and patterns while imagining the finished product with reference to the Kanzashi sample.
Carefully concentrate Fold the cloth with tweezers and finish it in the shape of petals. How to fold depends on the shape of the flower you choose.
A cute work is completed! Petals are attached to the base, and decorations such as pearls and beads are fixed as flower cores. It is also popular with tourists from overseas as a souvenir that is typical of Kyoto.
