Sano Shipyard started out building Japanese-style boats in the Edo period and is the only company in Japan that builds pleasure boats. In its 200-year history, the 9th generation of the company built the SANO 25ft. His contributions to inheriting the traditional techniques of shipwrights, which are deeply connected to the area facing Tokyo Bay, and passing them on to later generations, have been highly praised, and the company has been designated an "intangible cultural asset" by Koto Ward, Tokyo.
