Akigawa Valley in Akiruno City, Tokyo, is a great natural area 60 minutes from the city center. Hidden areas that you wouldn't expect to find in Tokyo are scattered here, and you can enjoy an adventure on a day trip. A local hunter will guide you through the limestone caves and waterfall training, and you can enjoy a BBQ of local ingredients including wild game for dinner. This is a nature experience event that will refresh your mind and body. ◎ ■ Event details Refresh yourself with waterfall training and BBQ to relieve your daily fatigue, work stress, worries and distractions from relationships, and lack of exercise. ◎ The event will be held in Akigawa Valley, a great natural area 60 minutes by train from the city center. After meeting at the station, we will pass through a secluded valley and head for the waterfall. It is a place full of a sense of secludedness that will make you exclaim, "What!? Is this Tokyo??". ● What is waterfall training? It is an ancient Japanese concept that means "purifying the mind and body with water." Historically, it is said to have been performed since the Nara period, and was a purification ritual before ascetic training began. It seems that it was also sometimes held as a ritual to pray for rain or a good harvest. In this event, there will be no difficult ritualistic manners or actions, and you will be able to splash under the waterfall in any way you like. Dress code is free. Snorkels, swim rings and other play equipment will be provided, so you can look for fish and crabs, float on the water's surface and have fun playing in the water. ● BBQ with local ingredients such as wild game After exploring the limestone cave and working up an appetite by going to the waterfall, it's time for a BBQ. On Sunday, August 24, 2025, we will be holding a day trip experience of Sagami Sato Kagura and waterfall training in the quiet mountains of Atsugi. When you hear waterfall training, you may have a harsh image, but we will support you so that even first-timers can take on the challenge with confidence. Training is based on the positive idea that people can start over again and again. Kagura is an ancient Japanese traditional performing art that embodies the wish that people will spend their days in good health. This time, you will watch a lion dance performance and take photos of yourself as a lion dancer.
