If you visit Hida Takayama, you're sure to see these dolls! Why not try making your own Sarubobo? It's a full-fledged experience that starts with stuffing the body with cotton and then sewing it together with needles and thread, and can be enjoyed by both children and adults. (For children, we ask that a parent or guardian help with the experience.) You can take home the Sarubobo you make in a clear drawstring bag♪ We recommend the way it walks around with the doll hanging from it, which is very cute♪

The Mimachi Building Preservation District, the heart of Takayama city, attracts tourists from all over Japan. There are also many sake breweries in and around the Mimachi district. You can also enjoy sake tastings at the breweries. Secondly, Shirakawa-go, located at the foot of the sacred mountain Hakusan, is one of the must-visit tourist destinations in Gifu. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this beautiful traditional village is the definition of postcard-like beauty. Shirakawa-go Ogimachi Gassho-zukuri Village is the village with the most remaining Gassho-zukuri houses. The name Gassho-zukuri literally means "like praying hands". Gassho Village will take you back to pre-modern Japan. Climb the Shirakawa-go observation deck, look out over the village, and enjoy the views of a time gone by. Shirakawa-go is worth a return visit as it shows different looks with each passing season.
