The Meiji era playhouse Korakukan is still active and performing live (popular theater and other) for over 115 years. The 2025 performances are as follows: April 23rd to July 27th: "Shitamachi Kabuki Gumi" - Leader Mimine Tooru -> Star actor Shingetsu Kaito -> Star actor Hitomi Hiroshi (Star actor Subaru Toma) - They will perform in rotation for about one month each time. August 1st to September 15th: "Kanzaki Jun & 10carats" Fabulous Revue Boys. Actress Murai Mayumi and former OSK Nippon Revue Company Subaru Mirai will perform. The Meiji-era playhouse "Korakukan" was built in 1910 as a welfare facility for the Kosaka Mine employees. The exterior of the building is Western-style, while the interior is purely Japanese-style. Its most distinctive feature is its blend of Japanese and Western styles, which is rare for a playhouse. Staff dressed in black costumes will guide you through the Korakukan facility.
