This event is a reenactment of a local legend in which a god called Shirahige-no-Okami descends the mountain from Mt. Tashiro to buy candy. This plan allows you to participate in the procession of Shirahige-no-Okami, wearing period costumes and carrying flags (10 people per procession) as they parade down Omachi Hachiko Street! It's said that eating candy on this day will keep you safe from colds and ensure good health, and since the god is said to come to buy candy, the event is called "Amekko Market."
