During this experience, you'll learn the basics of calligraphy, practice writing your name or favorite phrase beautifully using brush and ink, and create a one-of-a-kind piece of calligraphy. Calligraphy is a traditional Japanese art of expressing words and emotions with brush and ink. Each stroke is imbued with balance, beauty, and spirituality. The studio where the experience takes place is a tranquil art space incorporating the essence of Japanese culture. The lighting and interior design are carefully considered, making the writing experience itself photogenic. Hiroshima is one of Japan's leading producers of calligraphy brushes, and the brushes used in this experience are authentic, handcrafted by artisans in Kumano Town. The special feeling of using authentic tools further enhances the depth of calligraphy. At the end of the experience, you'll have the opportunity to create your own personalized item, such as a T-shirt, fan, or pouch. T-shirts are perfect for travel, while fans and folding fans are popular during the hotter months. Postcards and cardboard are also recommended as gifts. The experience takes approximately 90 minutes and is a 15-minute walk from Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.
