Iaido experience in Japan

Once your reservation is confirmed, you will receive an email. Please be sure to confirm. This experience can accommodate up to 15 participants. During this experience, you will receive a lecture on Japanese swords, learn kata (cutting techniques), practice sparring, test-fire a bow and arrow, and try slashing with a mock sword. During the test-slash, you will slash multiple targets while moving with the mock sword. Slashing while moving is extremely difficult. Please experience the difficulty for yourself! Your instructor will be Yoshioki Sumida, assistant instructor of the All Japan Toyama-ryu Iaido Federation. With over 27 years of experience, he has taught at overseas branches in the United States, Europe, and Hong Kong. He is one of the very few instructors in the world who has deeply mastered and continues to pass on both kenjutsu and yabusame. You can learn how to use, draw and swing a sword in a real martial arts dojo, and at the end you can actually have a sword fight. The assistant instructor will translate in English. You can enjoy a "demonstration and straw cutting" using a real Japanese sword using Yushin-ryu sword techniques. A Yushin-ryu sword-holder from the Koryu Iaido dojo will safely and carefully instruct you, so please feel free to participate in the experience. The "Samurai Course" is an experience in which you wear an Iaido belt over your everyday clothes.
