As the name of the place suggests, Tsurui Village is the best place to see cranes. You can see cranes in a variety of places, such as cranes landing on pure white snow fields, cranes flying in blue skies, and cranes in the river. Kushiro has many sunny days in the winter, so you can take better photos. In the evening, you can also see the cranes, dyed in the setting sun, flying in formation to their roosts. Mysterious Lake MashuThis is a course where you can see Lake Mashu, Mt. Iou, and Lake Kussharo. Mysterious Lake Mashu is worth a visit. Misty Lake Mashu is also famous (as a song says), but on a clear day the blue of the sky is reflected on the lake's surface, creating a spectacular view. Only Mashu No. 1 Observation Deck is available during the winter. On the way to Lake Mashu, you can also get a feel for the vastness of Hokkaido at Tawadaira, where you can see the horizon in a large panorama. You can eat Genghis Khan at Tawadaira. Kushiro City - Hosooka Observation Deck - Tawadaira - Lake Mashu - Mt. Iou - Sunayu, Kotan Onsen (Lake Kussharo) - Kushiro CityThere is also a route where you can see Kaminokoike Pond, which has recently been included in Akan Mashu National Park.

Information on Kushiro Marsh National Park. This is a course that guides you from the west side of Kushiro Wetland, which was born as the 28th national park, a low-rise marsh with abundant nature that shows Japan's largest "horizontal expanse". At the Kushiro Marsh Observatory with the motif of "Yachibozu", you can see the marshes of the four seasons and live images, and you can see the history and present of the marshes. There is also a shop and a rest house on the 1st floor of the facility. There is also a 2.5km promenade starting from the Kushiro Marsh Observatory. It is a course where you can see the Kushiro Marsh without worrying about the weather.

You can see many red-crowned cranes in eastern Hokkaido around Kushiro, and here you can see the red-crowned cranes vs. food thieves, which you can't see at other feeding sites. Due to bird flu measures, you can no longer see Steller's sea eagles and white-tailed eagles as much as before, but you can see Ezo deer, swans, white-tailed eagles, etc. trying to steal the food from the red-crowned cranes. When they were feeding the cranes with raw fish, this was the only place in the world where you could see the red-crowned cranes vs. eagles fighting over food. (Only during feeding time) There is an admission fee to the Akan International Crane Center (480 yen for adults). I hope that one day I will be able to see the same scene again. Please contact us for details, such as combinations with the Kushiro Station ⇒ Akan International Crane Center ⇒ Kushiro City Tsurui Course.

This course takes you all around the Kushiro Marsh, the 28th national park established and the largest naturally rich low-lying marsh in Japan with the largest horizontal extent. View the Kushiro Marsh from the eastern (western) observation deck, then walk along an unpaved road to the western (eastern) observation deck. If you are confident in your time and stamina, there are also some places you can walk (or climb?) to see, such as the Kottaro Marsh Observation Deck, Sarubo Observation Deck, and Yumegaoka Observation Deck. Along the way, you might encounter red-crowned cranes, Ezo deer, or Ezo red foxes (which appear irregularly).

From Hosooka Observatory (east side), you can see the Kushiro Marsh and the meandering Kushiro River in the Kushiro Marsh, the 28th national park and the largest naturally rich low-lying marsh in Japan with a horizontal spread. The view from Hosooka Observatory, also known as the "Great View," is spectacular, and on a clear day you can see the Akan Mountains. Watching the sunset from Hosooka Observatory has also become popular recently. The untouched Hosooka Observatory is an observation deck that cannot be reached by large tourist buses. There is also a course that combines the Norokko train ride, where you can ride one way through the marsh from Kushiro city to Hosooka Observatory to Kushiro city, and then take a taxi back to see the Kushiro Marsh from a different angle.

In winter, Shiretoko's famous waterfall, Furepe Falls, turns into blue icicles, and the spray of the falls, blown by the north wind, creates a mysterious shape. Behind Furepe Falls, the silvery Shiretoko mountain range stands, and during the drift ice season from late January to early March, a majestic drift ice field spreads out below. To reach Furepe Falls, you will put on snowshoes (Western snow shoes) and walk freely through the forest, searching for forest creatures and their traces. Places that are difficult to access from spring to autumn become walkable thanks to snow and snowshoes, so this tour is characterized by many new discoveries. Enjoy the spectacular scenery that is typical of Shiretoko and the snowshoeing experience together. *Due to the lack of sufficient snowfall from early to late December and late March, there is a high possibility that you will be guided in boots instead of snowshoes. In that case, we will guide you to the "Furepe Falls Nature Walk" tour in the same area during the snow-free season (adults: 3,100 yen, children: 2,000 yen). Thank you for your understanding.

The greatest feature of this tour is that you can enjoy the untouched nature of Shiretoko on snowshoes in areas that do not have well-maintained walking trails and still retain their pristine nature. During the tour, you can stop at a viewpoint with a spectacular view of the tip of the Shiretoko Peninsula, where you can see the hidden waterfalls that flow from the cliffs, frozen by the freezing cold. During the drift ice season, you will be amazed by the overwhelming beauty of the Okhotsk Sea covered in drift ice, and the silvery white Shiretoko Mountains towering behind the cliffs. On this tour, you will have a high chance of encountering wild animals such as Ezo deer and Ezo red foxes, so you can enjoy the winter nature of Shiretoko to the fullest. *Due to the lack of sufficient snowfall from early to late December and late March, there is a high possibility that you will be guided in boots instead of snowshoes. In that case, we will guide you to the same area tour in the snow-free season, "Shiretoko Primeval Forest & Spectacular Cliffs Trekking" (Adults: 5,100 yen, Children: 2,600 yen). Thank you for your understanding.

This special tour, only available in winter, involves walking through the forest at night on snowshoes. As you get used to the darkness and walk relying as much as possible only on your own eyes, the light of the snow, and the light of the stars, you will have a strange feeling as if a primitive power that had been sleeping inside you has returned. The sound of your feet crunching on the snow echoes through the silent forest at night, creating a tense atmosphere that is unique to this tour. If there is no moonlight and no clouds, countless stars will twinkle in the sky and you can enjoy stargazing. On the other hand, during a full moon, you can appreciate the beauty and brightness of the moon anew. Why not spend a fantastic night in Shiretoko on this tour?
