Take a tour with your guide through the quaint street lined with Japanese old houses! Masuda Town has prospered as a merchant town since the Edo period. Because this town has been the transportation hub, a variety of agricultural products gathered here. Merchants amassed wealth in their fields and created mansion towns. Inside these mansions, "Kura'' or a storehouse was built by wealthy merchants to store documents and household furniture. This storehouse is still inhabited and rare even in Japan. Feel the elegance in the detailed decorations such as white plaster, polished black plaster and lacquered interior. The townscape is home to many historic buildings of this area. Masuda town was designated as a National Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings in 2013. Find the storehouses of each mansion with its unique structure and decoration. In this guided tour, you will be able to visit two to three mansions with storehouse while receiving an explanation. English speaking guide accompanies you.

3-theater common ticket [Korakukan + Kosaka Mine Office + Kosaka Railway Rail Park] This is a great value ticket that includes a theater performance at Korakukan, a national important cultural property, the Kosaka Mine Office, the Kosaka Railway Rail Park, and a tour of the 3 facilities. The Meiji era playhouse Korakukan is still active for over 100 years and still performs regular performances (popular theater and other) today. The 2025 performances are April 23rd to July 27th, "Shitamachi Kabuki Gumi" Leader Mimine Toru → Starring Shingetsu Kaito → Starring Hitomi Hiroshi (Starring Subaru Toma), with performances taking place in rotation for about one month each. August 1st to September 15th, "Kanzaki Jun & 10carats" Fabulous Revue Boys. Actress Murai Mayumi and former OSK Nippon Revue Company member Subaru Mirai will appear. September 21st to October 28th "Gekidan Yumeiro" led by troupe leader Kenji Kano, former OSA Nippon Opera Company member Shiho Wakaki, special appearance by Mariko Endo. It is interesting that the performers change every year as this theater troupe was formed just for the Korakukan performance. The performances are enjoyable for all ages, so many customers come, including elementary school to high school students on school trips. Please enjoy watching a performance at Korakukan, a theater that is still in operation after a century. Kosaka Town in Akita Prefecture is a town that prospered because of the Kosaka Mine. In 1910, the Meiji era theater "Korakukan" was built as a welfare facility for the employees of the Kosaka Mine. The exterior of the building is Western-style, while the inside is purely Japanese. The most distinctive feature of this theater is its blend of Japanese and Western styles, which is rare for a theater. Staff dressed in black costumes will guide you through the Korakukan facility.
