The most distinctive feature is the combination of Japanese and Western styles, which is rare among playhouses. The Kosaka Mine Office was established in 1903. It is a three-story wooden building made entirely of natural Akita cedar, and is a Renaissance-style office building that represents the Meiji era. The spiral staircase leading up to the 3rd floor of the entrance hall draws a beautiful curvaceous line and is highly regarded architecturally.

The entire Kosaka station premises is a railway heritage site! It is a complex facility for rail play. You can enjoy a variety of activities such as riding a rail bike, see rare trains that are rare in Japan, and see the locomotive as it was at the time.
